Over the last decade I have obsessed over many topics – None more than how humans learn skills and then transfer them into high pressure and high stress environments.
Watching Ronaldo and Messi play soccer, Tiger Woods play golf, an orchestra light up a concert hall or an extreme athlete land a 720 always has me asking the same questions: How did they learn that? And how do they learn it in a way that leads to them reproducing the skill when it matters the most, in the performance arena.
After a decade of asking these questions I believe I can now answer it.
But be warned, the information provided will dispel myths that many of us believe to be true, such as the 10000 hour rule, repetition being key to learning and ‘muscle memory’. So bring your growth mindset and be ready to challenge the norm!
